CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace
This course provides individuals with the basic knowledge and skills
necessary to provide effective basic life support in an emergency. CPR
and AED for the Community and Workplace offers training in basic life
support (BLS), including rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR), and defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator (AED)
based on the 2007 ECC Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. It also presents key psychological
and legal aspects of providing basic life support and demonstrates the
proper emergency action steps for adults, children, and infants, including
how to alter emergency action steps to accommodate special conditions
and how to assist adults, children, and infants who are choking. This level
of training is designed for those who would likely be the only person to
respond during an emergency and have limited or no equipment available.
Basic First Aid
Participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and
sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies like
bleeding, shock, burns, strains, fractures, allergic reaction, diabetic and
seizures is shared. Properly applied first aid can save lives, reduce
recovery time and quite possibly mean the difference between temporary
disability and lifelong disability for the victim.
Emergency Oxygen Administration
Critical step in treating a severe or life-threatening illness or injury. This
program focuses on administering emergency oxygen, rescue breathing
and oxygen delivery devices. Serious and life-threatening medical
emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted in the body leaving the
victim at risk for cardiac arrest or brain damage.
The Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness
This course includes information that will help students understand what
bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced
for themselves and others. The program assists in satisfying the training
requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne
Pathogens Standard.
